Fitrana

What is Fitrana?
Fitrana is an obligation on every Muslim who has wealth above the threshold of nisaab. It is a means of purifying the fasting person from their shortcomings in the month of Ramadhan.
How much is Fitrana?
The required quantity of fitrana was described by the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) as one saa’ of staple food. The monetary equivalent of this today is £5.00, however, if a person is well off they may pay more.
Who needs to pay Fitrana?
Fitrana is compulsory on a person if the total value of his zakatable assets equals the zakat nisaab or more. A man must also pay it on behalf of his child and voluntarily on his wife’s behalf. If he does not, it will be obligatory on the woman to pay it herself.
Fitrana is to be given to the poor and needy. It is an obligation to pay it before the Eid prayer, however, it is preferable for it to be paid in advance. This is so it can reach the needy in advance, so they may use that money for their Eid preparations.
Donate your Fitrana to Al-Ihsaan Trust to fulfill your obligation and help provide a happier Eid for the needy.
